Carmen Del Playa

Mexico has grown up. I was in Cancun 14 years ago and it did not have the American flavor that Carmen Del Playa has today. I saw a McDonalds and a Subway there. I am so paranoid about getting sick on vacation that these were welcome sites to me but we did avoid temptation and ate at a nice cafe. This city is on the beach that this part of Mexico is famous for. White sand as far as the eye can see. The cafes, bars and hotels run right to the beach. I have no clue how they survive bad weather but it is very convenient. They offer fishing and parasailing right there. We only gave it a few hours and did some shopping as they lots to offer.

This is one of those places where a person could spend some time just being. A Corona and a beach chair could have gone a long way here. the people watching was great and relaxed. The whole town seemed to want to live up to the theme of sleepy. I doubt night time was that way but for a day trip it worked great for me and the kids.

Travel Tip: Book your Swim with the Dolphins, horseback riding or ocean snorkeling online! Xcaret key attractions fill up early and that way you can get them in when you want them!
