National Garden Week

National Garden Week Is Here: On April 18, 1986, then President Ronald Regan issued Proclamation 5462. This Proclamation states that “Gardening is a wholesome avocation that encourages appreciation for nature and concern for the preservation and enhancement of our environment.”

Thurs the week of April 13 became National Garden Week. He further requested “all Americans to join in educational efforts, ceremonies, and other appropriate activities to show our appreciation for the efforts and contributions of gardeners.”

Check your local papers for special public garden parties, sales, etc. How nice that us gardeners have our own week.
